Thread: I think I wrecked it...

Default I think I wrecked it...

So I wanting to do a test of my Prizim board before soldering but I put my negative to my positive for my battery...Smoke and disapointment ensued. Even with a short time frame is it screwed? If so what can I do now?

Also I want to understand how the wiring for the momentary/latching switch works better. This is what I was gonna test but I don't know if I can now... Can someone give some fuller explanation? The manual wasn't doing it for me.

Are you saying you touched the two wires of the battery together or you wired them to the board wrong? What was smoking?

Smoke is usually going to be a bad sign.

Did you watch Madcow's video on wiring momentary to latching converters?

If you hooked up the battery backwards, you've likely cooked your board. Send a PM to Zook. He's the US repair guy for the boards in the store. He should be able to fix it.

Also, the momentary to latching converter isn't needed with a Prizm board. That board supports both types of switches. You won't need to hold the button down to keep the saber on. The converters are used more for stunt sabers (those built without sound boards).

We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

I had my wires connected properly, but I had my battery reversed in the holder. So it's like I put the negative on positive and so on.

I'll pm zook tonight when I'm home.

"magic blue smoke" I must be a genie then.
Btw if you look at the chip that is closest to where the speakers connect, that is the chip. It has two tiny dimples on it from me trying to use it twice in that battery configuration.
Is that chip for sound by chance?

Fortunately, it's a fixable condition, if you know the right Wookie.
