Thread: My first saber

  1. #1

    Default My first saber

This is my first saber that I've actually completed. It started out as an idea when I ran across an artist rendering of an image of a "dragon tooth" while helping my 10 year old on some science homework. No $ for sound or FoC but I left space for it in the hilt if I ever want to put it in. I carved the tooth out of wood.

My parts list is pretty basic.

    Store:
Blue rebel assembly, a switch, recharge port, d ring, an 18650, and a blade retention screw

    Lowes:
1.25" sink tube, 8-32 screws, paint

    Garage sale:
    1.5" 6061 aluminum tubing (3' for $2), 1.5" conduit clamp

    Back yard:
A stick from my silver maple tree

I need to figure out how to keep the blade stable inside the 1.25" sink tube. It wobbles a bit. Sand down some PVC and glue out of sight inside the emitter?

Very Nice! I love the clean look up top and the more rugged look with the tooth down on the bottom half!

Would clear heat shrink over the emitter end of the blade do the trick?

For such a modest parts list, the results are pretty cool looking! Nice work...

I found a piece of clear thin wall poly carb (no idea how or where I got it from)and cut 1/4" slice of it. Worked perfectly for jamming it over the 1" thick wall from the shop
