Thread: My First MHS Saber

  1. #1

    Default My First MHS Saber

    Hi every one
I have been trying many combinations and came up with this design below

    BODY:
LED Blade Holder Style 23(Solid BRASS).
    3.7" Ribbed Extension
A Style 18 Holder Made as An Extension between Holder 23 and Ribbed section
3" Double Female Connector(Solid BRASS)(Activation boxs will be mounted here)
MPS Pummel Style 3v2(with female thread) joined to Style 4(In Brass)
MPS Pummel Style 10 as an Extention
    BRASS Covertec knob and screw.

    Electronics:
    PC3
10W LED Engine (First blade color Green 2nd Amber)
    X2 14500 Battory Pack
    Premium 28mm Speaker
    Activation Box Style 4 Top
    Avtivation Box Style 9 Bottom
    AV Short Green LED MOMENTARY
    AV Short Momentary
    2.1 Jack
    Brass Kill key

The 3" Ribbed Extension is where I would like to house A crystal chamber.
A Shroud would go over this.

    Any other recommendations?

Pic of the "revised" saber? This way we can see if it'll all fit.

Well, to answer a few of your questions...

No, you do not need a buck puck.
You don't "need" a RICE port, but if you can't easily access the SD card, it does come in handy.
Regarding the spacer and battery, since you don't have a lot of room, I'm guessing that a 14500 pack will be what you can get to fit in there.
I don't know where you are going to get a CS2 from, unless someone stripped one out of a saber, only certain people sell them, and they are NOT allowed to sell them as a standalone card, the must be installed in a saber.

I'd be very curious to see where you plan on putting everything internally.

I have updated my List of parts.
as I am going to Us A PC3 and a LEDEngin with A 2 pack 14500 Battery, Do I need this, and can it be mounted around the Battery?

As for the PC3 Do I have to get A Color Extender if I want to have the Green and Amber I want?
    http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Pe...nder-P911.aspx

are this Desks compatible with the PC3?

If you are purchasing your 14500 Pack (as a Pack) from the store, NO, you will not need that, as the Pack will include the PCB (all wired together!)
If you are going to make your own pack, from unprotected cells from the store (or another source), then YES, you will need that.

The Color Extender is for more accurate and controlled (especially through the RICE port) color mixing settings. This is typically used with RGB leds (so you can "mix" almost any color you like, without having to use resistors).
If you are getting a Custom LED star from another source, with Green and Amber, it depends what you would like to do with your setup.
One Main Color Blade and the other for FOC? NO, you could skip the Color Extender.
If you want to change the Main color of your blade (with different sound fonts), YES, I believe you would need the Color Extender.
If you are to use a RGB Tri-Rebel from the store, then YES I would recommend the Color Extender, just to make it easier.

Yes , PC2 Discs ARE compatible with PC3 (and at least CF6 and CF7) as they all have the same "width" of 23.5cm.
As a note: Knowing how these Li-ion Batteries are "sized" could help with your build (You listed a 14500 pack in your parts list above, but yet you linked to the 18500/18650 Discs here).
The first two digits of the Battery Size is for the diameter, and the last 3 digits are for the Length.
They both are stated in millimeters, so a 14500 cell would be 14mm in diameter, and 500mm (50 cm) in length, where a 18650 cell would be 18mm in diameter, and 650mm (65cm) in length.
Keep in mind, the "Packs" sold here will be slightly larger, to accommodate the PCB, leads, and shrink wrap (which IS taken into account in the discs sold here).

Cool I am please I can get the PCB connected with Battery.

If I am going to use a Cex is there a chassis Disc for it?
And a PEx, do i need one of those too?

No there isn't a chassis disk specifically for the CeX. If you are using a CEx, then, no, you do not need a PEx. Back to the original design, I think you are trying to fit a whole lot of stuff into your design, and you are probably going to find that it won't all fit the way you think it will.

As Forgetful Jedi Knight said, no, there is not a specifically made chassis disc(s) for a Color Extender.
With that being said, I am in process of building my own saber, and have purchased, and modified a set of these:
    http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Ac...k-S3-P813.aspx
Now my battery is MUCH larger then a 14500 side by side (I'm using a 18650 Stick Pack aka, "the monster"), and these discs will not fit your design, but I'm pointing out modifications can be done.
For your situation, it may be worth adding a custom set of chassis discs to the questions for Tim (as he does offer custom laser services).
    http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/LA...ices-P812.aspx

Also, to reiterate a concern of Forgetful Jedi Knight, there REALLY is not a lot of space inside any saber (it always looks like more space in the MHS builder), and once you get the parts in hand, and can start mocking up your build, space gets used up in a hurry! (Thus, the art of Cram-Fu was born).

This is my chassis test build (the rod will end after the brass nuts on the right), and it is 7 and 3/8th inches (approximately 18.7cm) long. This does use the larger stick battery and has space for my PLI between the black discs, but as you can see, the CF7 (which is only 1.6mm longer then a PC3) and CeX layout is around 3 and 3/8th inches in this configuration.

SABER Parts Breakdown.jpgThanks for the info.

When I basically went back to 1O1 and redesigned the whole thing again.
    Here it is so fare:
JQ Sabers might help me out with the Assembly
What is Missing is the Switch box Layout, Still not sure what wrought to take. I might just go for the Box 19?
