    Default Rogue9607's Jack Daniels Saber

I haven't posted much in a while, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy... I'm building this saber for my father-in-law. What's pictured here was done in a frantic two day period before Christmas (we only thought of the concept on the evening of the 22nd). I had a mill bit break which ended my build efforts at that time, but it was in good enough condition to present to him. I haven't had a chance to get back to work on it, but hope to soon and will post updates along with any progress pictures I can find from earlier in the build.

Obviously, Jack Daniels was the inspiration for this saber. The slats are white oak and the pommel cap is maple. Both are treated with a walnut stain. The "barrel straps" are aluminum and treated with aluminum black. The slot in the grip exposes the "fuel cell" inside the saber. The "fuel cell" is accessible by unscrewing the pommel cap and can be filled with a liquid of choice. The pommel cap also has a medallion inset in it that reads "Order of the Gentleman" which was from a money clip that came with a different bottle. Eventually there will be four slots, however that's where my mill bit broke, so there's only one full slot at the moment.

That's wicked. So, is it a functional (i.e. light/sound) saber in addition to the fuel cell functionality? I really like the detail on the pommel and blade holder. Can't wait to see more. Ah, man, now I have to wait an hour until I can go home and pour myself a little "fuel"...

Thanks! My intent is to add light but to leave sound out. With a choice between sound and more fuel capacity, I opted for more fuel.

Nice. I do have to remind you though that electronics and liquids do not mix.

"Yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before... you want blindingly bright, super loud, running 1138 blinkies off of the cheapest sound card you can find AND you want all of it to run on a battery the size of a dime, and run for a very, VERY long time. That one cracks me up every time..."

I took a couple of quick pictures of the details that weren't in the first shot. Thankfully, I found a small bottle that fit into the hilt perfectly.

Why do I want a drink all of a sudden?

I much prefer rum but this is pretty great too. I love the barrel details.

It's all fun and games until a drunk Jedi gets a saber in the eye

    Nice idea and execution though!

Hmm... speaking of drinks... <goes and rummages through wet bar>

I imagine this is exactly what the Jedi used to get through all of those boring council meetings

Really excellent job with this - loving all the wood elements!
