Thread: General questions about the LED hilt

Default General questions about the LED hilt

    - I was wondering when reading on my blade holder requires "New style heatsink" is the Rebel star LED & MHS heatsink kit of the "New style" that is compatible.

    - Was also curious 1" Hilt safety Hilts with the blade holder style no. 17

    - Hilt Style no. 4 looks a bit "off coloured" is it just the picture or is it actually looking a bit more gold/bronze-ish rather than a silver, asking hence there is no saying what material it is made out of

    - Anyone know how things come in and go, since they just ran out of stock on Rebel Star Pre-Wired LED & MHS Heatsink Module And JST connectors how are the re-stocking rates just too get a idea (can be very impatient so better ask ^^)

    - 5.6ohm 10w resistor for rebel star deep red and 6v setup, seem correct and also 220ohm 1/4w resistor for illuminating led switch

    - Just recently noted that you need a "box" for the illuminated leds and curious for if there is any "cheap" fix for it i mean 20$ for one box and since I'm making a double hilt it would be 40$ all of sudden

Sorry if i banged it all up on one thread but I hope you don't mind anyways, thanks for any help its very appriciated

The re-stocking rate depends of the item, sometimes it might take a few days, sometimes a month.

About the hilt style 4, the picture just makes it look like it.

Box for illuminated LEDs? Are you talking about the Anti-Vandal switches? They don't need a box, and neither do accent LEDs.

I was thinking of the Illuminated switches, dont know if people usually refer them as "Anti-Vandal" switches are they the same ?

also one thing noticed you have a cyan lightsaber, I was very intressted in this colour but felt kinda wrong when I want too be "sith" but still have a cyan lightsaber
    any thoughts on this ?

The illuminated switches sold in the store are all of the "Anti-Vandal" variety. You can get illuminated switches that aren't AV switches, but you'll have to look elsewhere.

Pick the color you want, make a good story behind it. Maybe you killed a Jedi and decided to use his saber as an insult to other Jedi. Maybe you're recently turned to the Dark Side and haven't made a new red one yet.

Or perhaps you should make two sabers, one cyan and one red. This hobby is addicting, you're likely to end up doing this at some point anyway.

One other thing, please refrain from doubleposting. Use the edit button when you have to add information to your last post.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

You can wire the LED on quick-disconnect so you can change the colour quickly.
The cyan I used is very green, a Rebel Cyan.

I haven't actually ordered these parts yet myself, but this may help with your first question. This is from the description of the Rebel Star LED & MHS Heatsink Module:
"These will only work with "new style" MHS blade holders"

The newer kits are made with the new heat sink modules, seen here http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MH...k-V2-P763.aspx, as opposed to the older heatsink which we use to use http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Co...sink-P234.aspx

im working on modifying an ultrasabers hilt, but it doesn't have a heatsink...i'm using the seoul p4 kit and the included switch, but need a heatsink to add to the hilt. i was thinking of using http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Co...sink-P234.aspx with http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Ol...pter-P628.aspx but i'm unclear as to how to mount this in the pommel, as it isn't removable and it's just a straight pommel (see attached photo...). would say some epoxy work to keep this in place, or would you be able to advise a better way?

I am currently doing the same thing, just using an old Prophecy v2. I would suggest try to use the old LED Module that came with it. This module unscrews from the bottom and you should be able to remove the old LED itself..the module acts as the heatsink. You will probably still need the thermal compound though......Hope this helps. Good Luck!

    Cheers
