Good idea. I've used teflon tape to tighten up threads that needed to still be able to turn and adjust but never thought of it as a loctite substitute.
Personally I'd start with 'blue loctite' which is non permanent and should keep things together without making any permanent modifications. Clean threads thoroughly first of course. If that doesn't...
