Well, we did another with a Crumble, same basic set up, and it did not stay on.

Double check your wiring and soldering. You may have bridged something unintentionally.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

if the positive and negative on the AV switch are reversed would that do it?

I did find a bare wire. fixed that and put it on the charger overnight. Light goes off now. Only issue is the damn innards wont fit in the hilt. Effin Saberforge
