I have started building Sabers 2 months ago. This is my second custom saber. It is ment to be earthy with a organical touch. The saber should be for a Dark Jedi or a Sith. Goal was to have a durable saber with good balance. Thats why I decided to go full MHS Mainbody. It is just above 12 inches long. I use it as a bastardsword like saber.
It features 11 !! underdriven 1,8 mm red LEDs - 4 for the CF LEDs and 7 for the Erv' Bargraph. The Bargraph is coupled with CF LED1 and is just on when this LED is also lit. 2 tactile switches are installed below the sinktube "arms" on top of the saber, so not visible. It holds a red/orange Ledengin 10 Watt with 2 dies over CF @ 1A and 2 as clashflash over a driver @ 1A. A rumble motor is also included.
Parts that are included are:
- MHS holder
- MHS 2 inch extension
- MHS double female connector
- MHS 7 inch extension with custom grooves (10 of them)
- MHS Pommel with insert
- double Sinktube Overlay
- Carclo FibreOptic Lense
- LUX3 Lenseholder

Now with Video
Darkside Saber Function demonstration
Designtest with Paper - The saber was designed with pencil and paper no PC involved
After done first Layer of Overlay - Yes handcrafted before somebody asks. With dremel and lots of sanding.
Tapped and screwed
holes done in the mainbody for LEDs and switches
Drawing and checking 2nd Overlay
2nd overlay parts - above it the remains of the sinktube - again handcrafted
Fittingtest
Pommel with speaker attached and rechargeport
As you can see not much space around the speaker - I also had to sand down the inner diameter of the pommel a bit. You can also see that I salvaged the connectord from an old 486 PC
Electronic arrangment
I epoxided the 3 LEDs in place on the Downside
The 2 rows of 4 LEDS are the CF LEDs and every second LED of the Bargraph
the remaining 3 LEDs of the Bargraph
After the saber felt down on a hard stone floor I had to redo a few things. Also I decided to sand the sinktube a bit to get a brushed look to be more inline with the uncovered MHS Parts
aboce the custom Saber with thinwalled blade, corbin and ultrafilm. below to compare a 616 modded with color mod and also a thinwalled corbin/ultrafilm blade. This 616 is quite a bit brigther than a stock FX Maul
Here with clashflash on - not really good on the cam, but I will add a video for the saber as well and link it here. Maybe you can see it a bit better then.
With this design I am able to unscrew 3 Screws and then just unsrew the pommel and the 7" extension. I then have full access to the main electronic.
