Thread: Build list

    Default Build list

Hey Guys, new to the community.
Please be gentle. This is my first custom build.

Before I jump into the deep end and try to build from scratch, I thought I could get practice on this first.

I have an Ultrasabers Dominix LE V4 stunt saber I'd like to add sound to.

Feedback would be greatly appreciated on the parts list.
    Parts:
    Soundboard - Nano Biscotte
    Chassis - Darth Ryo
MHS speaker and 2x AA battery holder
    Wiring

Also wanted to upgrade the switch.
    Parts:
12mm AV Momentary Blue illuminated switch
12mm AV switch bezel for MHSV1

    Looking forward to it!

You will need more than voltage than the 3.0v the 2AA will put out, and 2 14650 will give you too high of a voltage. The NB is rated for 3.4-5.5v single cell set up. It works best with an 18500 or 18650 setup. So you will want to rethink your speaker holder choice. You will also need to measure the internal dimensions of the hilt before selecting TCSS components. You will also need to calculate the resistor for the switch led or use a DynaOhm resistor. I also did not see the speaker listed in the build, so add a Premium or Bass speaker to the list. You'll also want sufficient heat shrink for all the soldered connections, including some "factory" connections that might be bare or taped.

There are multiple Darth Ryo chassis so double check the dimensions and specifications will work with your desired soundboard setup and hilt dimensions.

Thank you. You are the man! or woman...

This is exactly why I came here!

    Updated list:
    Nano Biscotte Sound Module V3
GCM124-01-NB - Nano Biscotte + 18650 cell Chassis Darth Ryo
    18650 Single Cell Holder
    Li-Ion 18500 Cylindrical 3.7V 1400mAh Rechargeable Battery
MHS speaker mount V5 - For 28mm Speakers
    2W 28mm Bass Speaker
    20mA DynaOhm™ Variable Resistor
12mm AV Momentary Blue illuminated switch
12mm AV switch bezel for MHSV1
    wiring & heat shrink

Is an 18500 battery compatible with an 18650 holder?

Ultrasaber's website lists the Dominix V4 as 1.45, I would assume the 1.24 chassis would be sufficient, right?

No the 18500 is the same diameter but much shorter. By the looks of that chassis you will not need the battery holder instead you need a fixed battery like this. Because the battery will be fixed you will want to add a recharge port . V5 Speaker holder is probably a good choice. If the lip is not compatible with the US hilt, then you can sand/shave it off.

As for the internal diameter, you will need to measure that, you cannot assume an ID simply by the OD of the part, as most are machined from solid rod-stock so ID will be dependent on what each manufacture uses as their bore diameter.

    This has been incredibly helpful.
I'm sure they are very elementary questions, but I genuinely appreciate your help.

I measured the inside of the hilt and I it is a hair bigger than 1.25. Wouldn't the 1.24 chassis fit?

It'll fit but it might be a hair small. That's what you get for dealing with that company.

    I'm new to this thing.

Would love a recommendation if you can.

Not meaning to be rude in any way but my recommendation, now that you're here at TCSS, would be sell the US, use the cash to buy MHS parts and build your own 'unique' saber. It is more satisfying.

    I'll get there!

    Just need some practice first.

I've been playing with the builder with some ideas.
I may have found some things that I like.

I have everything ready except the LED electronics now.

If I'm getting Luxeon Tri-Rebel Star, what drivers and resistors are needed?

Also, just received a graflex, I'm sure there is a specific 7/8 heat sink, but I'm having difficulty tracking one down.

    Any advice?
