Thread: recommended solder wire?

  1. #1

    Default recommended solder wire?

Anyone have a preferred solder wire? I've currently got 60/40 tin/lead .3mm wire.

That sounds pretty close to what I use. I'm not sure about the thickness, but it's fairly fine stuff.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Ditto. I find the high tin/low lead stuff doesn't flow very well.

Yea, Tim said that .3mm was a bit thin. He recommended this one:

I purchased it. Should be getting it soon.

On another note, my soldering iron goes from 200 to 500C or 392 to 932F. What is a recommended temp for the best soldering?

    I can recommend Kester '44' rosin-cored 63/37 solder - http://uk.futureelectronics.com/en/t...6337-0010.aspx

As for iron temperature, I typically use 350C.
