Hello everyone! I've been hanging around and reading up on many many many posts, prior to joining the forum.

I've been a star wars fan since around 1985-1986; when my grandpa gave me the original trilogy on VHS that he recorded from Cinemax...I still have them lol. Now I am raising my own little Star Wars fans, 2 boys (6 & 10), and a girl (11). For Christmas this year they wanted light-sabers. Well, I had this great idea to build them, which ultimately led me here. There is so much good information on this forum, and some of the designs are just mind blowing.

I will admit, that I am somewhat of an overachiever, but that might be a good thing here from what I have seen. For example, when my 6yr old was 5 he was in a pinewood derby race. He wanted a police car....well, he wanted a Florida State Trooper car with flashing lights, so to the drawing board we went. I will dig up a couple pics / vids when I get home, because it did come out pretty cool. It didn't just have flashing lights, it had flashing lights in the same color pattern and sequence as the State Trooper cars. It was pretty sweet and we had a blast. He even got a couple of honorary State Trooper patches from the Florida Highway Patrol.

As for the sabers, well our first build we will be using PVC, with sound / light. I plan on documenting the entire process for them and I will share that here as well. So stay tuned for our "first build" thread.
