    Default First build idea...

    Hi guys,

came up with this idea and would like som input on it, I will powdercoat a significant part of it black as I invision this as a Sith saber. Want to have an orange-red "sunset" colored blade when idling (please suggest led-combo), also thinking about going darker instead of brighter on FOC instead of white. Maybe go all red instead of light up a white... Ideas and thoughts?

I plan to place two small tactile switches (instead of a standard latching/momentary) on the space between the v-grooved extension and the blank style 3.

Please make suggestions, corrections and general bashing of my design

    Parts-list:
    Pommel Style 3
5 Inch fluted double female threaded connector
    MHS ribbed extension v-grooved
    Extension blank style 3
    Blade holder style 17

If I were building that, I'd use Custom Tri-Cree, Red/Red/Amber. Use Red/Amber for normal color, Red/Red for FoC. It'll be easy enough to switch around if you dislike it.

You *can* put the tactile switches there, but you're drilling into a threaded section. If you're not VERY careful, you'll easily mess up the pieces to the point where they'll no longer screw/unscrew. Myself, I'd probably just put some red loctite threadlocker on the v-groove/blank3 connection to fuse them permanently, and then drill the switch holes. It's way to easy to bugger up threads when you drill through them.

    Thanks for your input SS,

But I actually believe I can place the tactile switches without going into threaded areas. If you check this image, I plan on placing them in the outlined area... Thats almost 3/4 of an inch of space there.

Looks closer to 3/8" on the MHS builder. You should be able to get the tactiles in that area if you're careful. Good luck with your build.

That area is a LOT smaller than you think it is. SS is right it's about 1/4" and depending on which switch you plan to you, you may have some issues.
