    Default Yup another noob!

Yay ! LIGHT SABERS ! Hi every body... I've been haunting this forum for quite awhile now, reading all the posts I can...(and that's alot !) I now get to feel really old when I tell you that I can still remember (with great fondness) going to Star Wars on opening day back in 1977 (it came out two days after my 14th birthday) and being just blown away!! Seeing you guys (and girls?) posting such great pics of your saber builds is very inspiring. I've been planning a build for quite awhile and spending all kind of hours viewing the Custom Saber Shop's build utility, sometimes staying up till the wee hours of the morn' (where did the time go?) I'm currently saving up my money to order a modular saber hilt for a simple lighted blade build (no sound at first) and look forward to many happy hours pestering you people with pertinent questions, don't worry I love to do research so I 'll keep the noob questions to a minimum. Rock On !!!

"Yeah, yeah, I've heard it all before... you want blindingly bright, super loud, running 1138 blinkies off of the cheapest sound card you can find AND you want all of it to run on a battery the size of a dime, and run for a very, VERY long time. That one cracks me up every time..."

Welcome, welcome friend. I believe I was about 13 when Star Wars first came out, so we probably have many cultural references in common, even being from Australia, American television and comics were at the forefront here still. I took two years roughly to build my first, ever changing, saber. 'Ever changing' partially because Tim is always bringing out wonderful new items, and when I first started on here the Petit Crouton sound card had not quite arrived. How things have changed. I wonder, if you find light sabers seem to epitomise all that Star Wars is, in one small, (and in the case of TCSS, wonderfully machined) package. It enables you to hold an iconic reference to the whole SW universe, and better still, participate in it, with a little imagination. Light sabers for me certainly seem to represent that love, and fascination, and I hope, however you feel about them, that building one, and meeting the wonderful people on this forum, will make your world just a little brighter, in more ways than just literally, ha ha.
