I finally had time to rewire the board. The speaker is now working well, and when I press the on/off switch the sound turns on and off. But, once I take out the kill plug the LED goes on and doesn't shut off when the switch is pressed. Could this be a setting on the SD card or should I rewire again?
If the sound is working fine, turning on/off with the switch, but the LED remains on with the kill plug, then you have a wiring issue with the LED. It's either grounding to the hilt somehow, or you've wired something incorrectly. The SD card is unlikely to be the problem here.

He should check his switch setting and make sure it matches his switch.
