Default MHS/Custom Dueling style Obi AFBB - An homage build to a JSS/LDM 2009 saber

I like throwback sabers. Throwback sabers are cool. There was a time when MHS Obi’s were the standards in the community, right along with MHS Luke V2’s. They were (and still are) perfect for dueling in every way. As of now, we don’t have a true thin necked dueling Obi. Either you want one or the other, depending on your needs. I for one, found myself the owner of a few dueling ones over the years, as well as building my own. This particular one is one that I especially liked:

So recently, I began wanting another MHS Obi. I also wanted a sort of homage build to the above JSS/LDM one, just not an exact copy. I procured the Roman's booster and Armitage Shanks handwheel (not always easy find either of these parts) and proceeded.

It was my intention to keep this “old school” in as many ways. So that means no V-grooved/choke combo. Like the original build, it’s the v-grooved extension, and choke style 1. That was the standard for Obi’s back in the day. Several aspects of this harken back to those days of 2009. If you have been around for awhile, you will know what ones. If you have not, you’ll just have to guess, lol. I went with my last bin 1, Lux III cyan also. Obi's generally used to be built with either that color or a P4 blue.

Hint: Bubble strip/touchplate style poweron was NOT the standard back then. It was quite a special saber if you had that extra cool feature.

MHS/custom “Dueling” Obi in the “AFBB” (As First Built By”) scheme.
P.C. 1.6 (no FoC) powered by 7.4V Li-Ion battery pack
Vintage Lux III Bin 1 Cyan (LOVE this color)
MHS parts painted with black enamel, clear coated and double baked for durability.
Bubble strip activation with accent indicator LED
    Park’s replica transistors
H.O. speaker with Reverse sound (LDM)
    Custom Roman’s Parts aluminum booster.
    Armitage Shanks handwheel.

There's no school like old school! Very nice Caine. Especially like how the lighted bubble strip touchplate came out. I haven't been around long enough to have/play with one of these classics, but they sure look great for dueling!

Yeah, they certainly are. A little heavier than some of today's standard duelers, but still a GREAT hilt nonetheless.
