Thread: Recharge port question

  1. #1

    Default Recharge port question

If I am trying to install the recharge port into the saber from the inside, would I need to use a left handed 5/16-32 tap to try to install it from the inside? Or would I be better off drilling the 5/16 hole and using the nut?

    All thoughts welcome.

Flush mount, your hands will thank you.

It's still the right handed tap in either case.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.

Flush mounting I think is what I really want, is there a how to or specific parts that I would need to make that work? Spacers or something? I'm still new to the recharge port thing.

Glad that I won't need a new tap at least...

This might help, depending on where you're trying to mount that port. http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=40200.0

I was thinking about trying to mount it in the side of a saber, I initially had it in the back. I think doing the activation box will make things easier. For flush mounting though, do people often leave the nut on to provide the spacing?

    Generally, yes.

Use the recharge plug for extra grab? Good idea. It could definitely work.

I just really hope that somebody, somewhere in that thread, remembered to mention making certain that the recharge plug is not connnected to a power outlet while this is being done.

Trying to figure out what size hole to drill to fit the body of the recharge port. Any thoughts?
