Purple LEDs do exist, just not in star form for now. Makototsai makes LED string blades.

LEDsupply has them. They aren't a 'true' LED in the sense of the word. They are a 5mm LED that has a red and blue die inside that flash back and forth VERY fast (faster than you can see) to mix the colors. Very bright, very good shade. We've been using them for years.

Are those good for use as the main LED in the saber, or would it be easier to just mix red and blue?

ok i c, ive looked at led supply and it says its purple but wow to do 1 string would be over $100.00!if its the one im looking at and the viewing angle is only 15 degree so it wont be monsterously bright, am i wrong? fender bender is that the one that makoto uses? cuz i was thinking you should be able to use 5mm rgb leds to make that nice purple right?

You would have to ask Makototsai what he uses for his blades, IF he would like to share with you.

well even if he made them available to purchase i would be happy, although im pretty sure if you use 5mm rgb leds you should be able to use a dip switch to make that perfect purple
