    Default New saber idea

ok so i have been looking at the new force action lightsabers if i can get one apart with out doing to much damage to i am going to make a really kool saber out of it.
All i need to know is if this could work. I want to try and see if this could be done with a Darth Vader Force Action lightsaber. Thanks for the help
i would also like to put a lux III red and a red Acrylic crystal from TCSS in side this saber hopefully.

I doubt very many of us here have any experience in modifying toy sabers, so you might need to be a little more specific. Just asking whether or not you can make it "kool" is too subjective. Koolness isn't exactly measured in scoville units or milliamps. Do us a favor. Open up your saber VERY carefully, take lots of pictures, gather some ideas for what you might like to do, and then post some specific questions. Then we can guide you.

My gut is telling me that there won't be a single thing you can do to modify the toy. Luxeons require heatsinking, heatsinking requires room, and there's probably not a lot of empty space inside that hilt. It already has to hold 3 AA's, a sound card, the LED, and the entire blade! You would also have to scratchbuild something to hold your Lux optics in place. Besides, illuminating an extendable blade with a Luxeon won't really give you a very good result. You might be better off building one from scratch. PVC is inexpensive, and there are quite a few saber builders here who are quite talented at turning plastic pipes into the elegant weapons from a more civilized age.

Actually, coolness is KINDA measured in scoville units... from a certain point of view...

Dude, I really don't think that's going to work. I don't want to sound negative, or discouraging, but those toy sabers are made out of cheap plastic. You may be able to make a cool display piece, maybe. But you would not be able to use it. I think the hilt would just break as soon as you made contact with another saber, or while doing some spins. You can use the sound card from it for a custom saber. Like Timerender said, you can make a slammin saber out of pvc. Check out Jay gons thread on pvc. I learned the basics from this thread.

http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com...for-a-pvc-hilt. This is just some of the things you can do with pvc. Also there is a wealth of information in here on how to build sabers out of MHS, & sink tubes. When I first dicovered this forum, I spent 3-4 hours a day just going through all the threads in here & messing around with the MHS builder for like 2-3 months before I completed my first saber. I hope this helps you out, good luck & the most important thing, HAVE FUN building your saber.

Some toy sabers can be dremeled out to hold a larger PVC pipe that can in turn hold a blade. I've done it.

That last one is an Obi TPM. Both the Obi and Qui sabers were Halloween costume accessories and far more accurate in length and thickness than the toys.

Hey Dogfire, that's what is all about, having fun. Those are pretty cool Arkm. I thought about that & I also thought that the plastic hilt would come apart at the seem from vibration of if the pvc flexes. That's why I thought it wouldn't work.
