Thread: Ahsoka Sink Tube

    Default Ahsoka Sink Tube

    Finally finished this one.

This is a gift for a friend of my 6 yr old daughter who is a huge Ahsoka fan.

It's not perfect, but I'm fairly happy with how it turned out. Getting straight lines cut using only a dremel is tough and you can see some imperfections and some scratches here and there. Nothing that a 6 year old won't be adding to after a day or 2 of playing with it.

I had considered modding some MHS parts to create the pommel, but decided to stick with the plastic part from my son's old toy Disney saber. I did some cutting, bonded to a sink tube cap and re-painted it. Does not match the chrome exactly but close enough. Except for the activation box, gold momentary switch, covertec and the bezels, this is all sink tube and hardware parts. I also used an old MR blade holder and blade I had sitting around. LED is a green Rebel and sound is the hasbro DVD Obi Wan board using the TCSS speaker. It sounds really nice in that fat pommel. All powered by 4 AAA.

Will be delivering it to the little girl tonight. Hope she likes it and hope it stands up to abuse by a 6 year old!

Sorry some of these pics are so blurry.

I made a little blade plug out of the plastic blade from the hasbro toy.

Ahsoka's saber just seems like it is MEANT to be made from a sink tube. It looks really good for the parts you limited yourself to. I bet she will love it!

Cool! Not a bad job at all for what you put into it. I'm sure she's love'n it. I am curious how you got the little ears/fins or what ever you call them.

    The bunny ears/gun sights?

Found this via a search on the forum:

What is funny is I misread the length and thought they were 8 inches long, not 8 FEET. So I bought two, just to have extra for future use. This huge box arrived and I was like....HUH? LOL. They worked well, but are a bit smaller then I'd like. I've an idea of how to do the ears differently if I need them again.

I tend to call them bunny ears for some silly reason but since they're not grouped like on a graflex calling them ears seemed odd.

Really?...they look rounded to fit the tube though. You must have modified them did you? I've almost done the same thing when ordering. Although I can't order from those jerk because they don't ship out of the US anymore.

That's really cool looking. How did you fasten the gun sights to the sink tube?

CC: Yes, I just bent them to shape using some pliers.

DM: Used JB Weld to fasten them to the tube.
