Spice Mines of Kessel Saber #2

Well here we go again...second build in a week.

Here is the second in the Spice Mines of Kessel series. This is for one of my martial arts students, Bryan (SW character name Admiral Hook). He wanted something Sithy, different and reminiscent of Darth Maul's saber (hence the blade holder). I am VERY JEALOUS of this hilt because it came out REALLY nice I think. As of now, it is just a stunt, but as soon as I can get my hands on an FX Maul or Vader board, it's getting the sound it deserves.

*Weathering done the same as SMOK #1 except I also added the use of red Krylon spraypaint. REALLY added to the "rusted" look.
*Seoul P4 red (nice and crimson)
*Use of the Quick-Disconnect so LED's can be swapped.

very cool! I love the rusted look.

I wouldn't rccomend a sith board though use a jedi, much beter it sounds.

I'm really digging that weathering technique. It's awesome.

You seem to be getting quite good at that weathering technique. Excellent work.

    Thanks everyone.

Got a lead on a Vader soundboard for this now...going to add a covertech clip and thumbscrew as well.

Down the road, a Spice Mines 'Dark' Obi ROTS is the project I am looking forward to. That was the original idea of this series....I just wanted to get a few weathering jobs under my belt first.

Your kind comments are appreciated very much.

I have used Jedi boards in my past few builds...plus even though the sounds in a Sith saber are limited, I know that Admiral Hook would think it was more appropriate.

BTW where did you get that stand?
From eBay seller lastodjedi. Just do a search for 'Lightsaber Stands' and they should pop up. He does some great custom work for good prices.

Glad to see more weathering going and they both look good.

I was never a fan of the olive oil weathering cuz alone it looks kinda bloody.

I'm guessing you added spraypaint after but I wonder what might happen if sprayed first or on the oil before baking.

I'm not sure if it's still on the market as krylon has changed their line so often over the years but anodized bronze would look great for this I think.
