Also keep in mind that with the board on the right you will have to solder where the switch made contact. If you look close there is a circle with traces in it. You have solder a wire to each side...
Only 11 orders this year. 4-Rhyen's, 4-Arkai's and 3-Manly's. I plan on doing much better next year. At least they were not all Rhyen's. LOL
Did the bull crap help with the blade diffusion? I hope that is not your secret ingredient for weathering. LOL
It is custom machined and has 2 CR2032 batteries. I have been thinking about changing them out to a single CR123. Even with those small batteries, there is still not much room. The blade is part...
Here is a short one I made before. I one of the pics I am comparing it to a MR Yoda hilt. The hilt is just a tad over 4"

You can use the 3.3V pad to run a low voltage EL inverter to light the EL wire. (Be sure you get the low voltage inverter for 3Volts or it will not be enough voltage to run it.) Like this one: ...
So here is the new custom paint job on my little girls softball helmet for this year. This is the 3rd year that I have painted her helmet and each year she has been on a different team so the team...
I actually broke a strap wrench trying to get the emitter off of a Maul. (It was a super cheap strap wrench) I got another strap wrench (a good one), used it and rubber jar openers (after I put the...
The main thing to consider is that the LED and the switch are 2 different components and have nothing to do with each other as far as internal wiring goes. So you just have a switch and an accent...
Yes, that is parallel, but the main LED doesn't have a resistor. It is good general practice to put the resistor on the same side of the circuit so you don't get confused. Ex: if you put the...
Good catch Ari, I didn't pay that much attention to the diagram, I was just asking a standard question. I would also suggest that you wire it in parallel with the main LED too (with the proper size...
Are you sure the polarity of the LED is correct? If it is reveresed it won't work at all. I am sure you probably checked that but it never hurts to double check or try it the other way.
Ma and my daughter are going to see it in a couple of weekends from now. Even if the 3D conversion may not be that great, it still gives me an excuse to go see Star Wars in the Theater again. LOL
I normally use 28 to 30 guage wire.
The best thing to do is to just get one of the new Ultimate FX Hasbro economy sabers and use the board from it. You don't have the blinking on power on/off and it actually has pretty good LED output...
IIRC it has a batt + and Batt - input and the other wire is the switch output. I have both a latching and momentary version here that I took off of some old EL Parks sabers that I haven't used yet. ...
Remember when I said they may be a little too thick, well.... just disregard that. They look just right the thickness you have them now. Keep up the awesome work.
Went to the podiatrist yesterday and it seems like most of my back problems are caused by me limping because of my bunion. I am scheduled to have surgery on Feb 14th (Valentines Day) and will be out...
It is easier to connect the grounds together on one of the switches than to solder 2 wires to the very small gnd pad on the board. That is why he shows it that way.
AWESOME work so far Brad. I really love the domed fins in the crystal chamber. I do think they would look better a little thinner though.
Did you wire the base of the transistor to one of the board LED + ?
I plan on wiring another one with this set up this weekend and will post pics and videos.
thanks Tim. :D
Make sure it is a PNP and not NPN transistor if you are using the board LED - to trigger the transistor. I recommend a TIP42 transistor.
As long as you use the board LED - to the PNP base it should work. I have wired many of them that way with no issues at all.
