Newegg.com is teh awesome for PC parts. I was looking at upgrading mine a couple months ago and didn't want to spend a lot. I priced an Athlon X2 2.8 Black Edition, a decent Asrock MB, and 4 gigs of DDR2 1066 for $200 with free shipping on it all.

The AMD Black Edition CPUs are very overclockable and to me, the price/performance difference of AMD vs. Intel makes AMD a winner.

I'm still using an old socket 939 Athlon X2 2.2, 4 gigs of DDR1 400 and an 8800GT which has served me well for a couple years but it's time has come and gone a while ago. I'll probably go ahead and get a AM3 Phenom II quad when the time comes to upgrade for TOR.

a 1.8 dual core probably won't be sufficient either, thankfully your motherboard likely supports higher end CPU's so you should be able to just swap one out.
Damm it, I just knew someone was going to say that. Well I'm going to have to start thinking about that. I've been waiting for a decent SW game since Kotor 1 and 2.

I don't think we need to worry about sys. req. until at least the sys req is released....but start saving money now.
Please advise me if I have made any mistakes. I am always learning. Thank you ahead for sharing your expertise.

Stuff I wouldn't want to play without but is not necessary
    Soundblaster soundcard
Gaming Headset (not one from the local best buy go online and get a GOOD one)
    Vista 64 of win7 64 OS (when win7 64 goes commercial.)
Win 7 64bit is already available, the Release Candidate is very stable and free as well! But just wait for the system requirements to be released first. Though I think they will have a large range between minimum and optimum to hit a large market.

Does anyone have any decent guild name ideas I can steal? I want to get started on a website and forums and get a domain registered. A friend suggested "Disciples of Revan" or "Disciples of Malak" which are possibilities. I've been trying to come up with something that's timeline appropriate. I was thinking perhaps just simply "Bane" or some other one word name.

Assuming the idea of having a light side and dark side is used, the name would have to have a lightside counterpart.

You know before I even get to crazy here, I'd like to ask if anyone is even interested in starting a guild when it comes out, please send me a PM with your faction preference.

In case you're wondering, I am by no means a hardcore player anymore. I used to be a 5 night a week raider in EQ and some in WoW, but now I play more for fun. I do still enjoy raiding, but on a more casual level. The guild my friends and I started in EQ is still going after 6 years even with the population decline. I would envision this guild as being fairly casual with some eventual raiding, but not hardcore.

Anyway, enough rambling. Again if you're interested in starting a guild, please send me a PM.

There are already a lot of guilds out there try to recruit: http://www.swtor.com/community/forumdisplay.php?f=36

and, again, this is just conjecture that there will be guilds at all, as there has been no real official announcement of how that system will work.... yet.

there should be an update on the site any time now (gotta love fan fridays!)

    UPDATE: here it is: http://www.swtor.com/news/article/20090626_001

Looks like they're using the same dialogue system from mass effect, I just hope with the massive amount of voice overs it won't be too big, AoC has something like 20 percent voice dialogue and it's 30 gigs on my HDD.
