Thread: LiFePo4 Batteries, will they do?

Default LiFePo4 Batteries, will they do?

*I have searched the forum, and found no reference to this topic, but then again, I am a forum noob*

I have been trying to read up on different battery types, when I found out there is a Lithium type battery that is totally safe, and doesn't need protective circuitry. The downside but carries a little over half the charge of a Lithium-Ion, and should not be discharged under 2V (this kills of the battery).

Does anyone think/ know if this is something that might have potential, and will this do for a 3W saber? (Provided, I use enough of these batteries)

Maybe once the technology matures, this will replace current batteries.
    Already comes in CR123, 14500, 18500 & 18650 packages I believe,
although might be hard to come by some of them.

Voltage is voltage, current is current... so as long as the batteries are run under proper conditions (i.e. proper attention to max amp draw, drain, charge, etc. etc. etc.)... then there is no reason why these cells can't be effective for a saber.

Just the reduced voltage per cell here. Otherwise, they're perfectly fine. Plenty of amp draw @ 4A.
