yes they are
but 40" blades are...floppy. If you mean how long should the blade be, do you mean for your dimensions or what? In the movies the blades look around 30" but I didn't make the props so...

ok but
how many times do you loop the the el wire on a 40 inch blade?
because you gave me 17' of el wire

5 times..
40" blade.. minus about 1" for the mono plug = 39"
39" x 5 strands = 195"
195" divided by 12 = 16.25 feet
Thats why I include 17 feet of wire.

So how long is an ideal blade? In the movies, it's 39 inches (1 meter), but apparently those flop around a lot. So how long can I make it without it being floppy?

33-36" is a good length

i set my length so that the blade from the tip to the emitter is 36 plus whatever goes inside. so lets say, tims holder is 2 inches and its flush with the end my blade would be 38 inches not including the mono plug.

I built a set of Dueling El Sabers(3/4"Th.) that have a 40" Blade Length and have even fought against a Shanai without any problems, but I am currently building a Led with a 1" Th. Blade and will probably go bettween 32"-36" to be more screen accurate.
