Thread: sink tube saber for new wife

Default sink tube saber for new wife

I got married a few weeks ago. Now after seeing my saber, she wants me to build one for her, but keep the price down as much as possible.
    My solution is as follows:

    Start with a 12" x 1.25" 22ga sink tube I have lying around.
    add this adapter: http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MH...pter-P396.aspx
    blade holder 13
    a red cree star module
Standard on / off red button switch
    1000 mA 4 wire buckpuck
    TrustFire Protected 3.7v 900mAh 14500 Li-ion x2
(7.4v total, to drive the buckpuck)
28" trans white thin wall blade

    (additional parts)
    1" hilt safety plug
    8-32 x .3 black thumb screw
service: drill & tap (8-32) hole for blade retention screw
JST female connector blue / white
    2 AA battery holder
    heat shrink
8 ft 26ga wire; 2ft each of red, black, blue, & white
(rather overestimate and have extra, than underestimate and come up short)

I'm curious how the adapter mounts to the sink tube? In the photo, it looks like it just slides in, but what makes it permanent?
Would I use something like JB Weld, or is it a case of drill & tap some holes + buy screws? The description is a bit short on info.

Also wondering what to do about a pommel? The sink tube has a nut at one end, kind of like the one currently out of stock here.
Maybe a large washer would work to cover that hole?

    Do you hear that?
That is the sound of a thousand terrible things headed this way.

Screws are a good way to mount the adapter. You could use epoxy, but that would make it more difficult to dismantle for repairs.
We all have to start somewhere. The journey is all the more impressive by our humble beginnings.
