Default Well, it lasted almost a week...

Good morning forum. So, I've had my first saber about a week, and during some semi-spirited sparring with a buddy of mine last night, the LED went out. This is a simple saber, only a single red LED, latching switch, 4 xAAA batt holder. No sound or anything. I took it apart and from what i can tell the LED burnt/blew out. Does that happen often? My switch is still functioning properly, and the batt voltage is good. No broken wires, etc. My second question is, I would like to replace the LED with one from TCSS, probably a rebel. My saber was assembled by those who shall not be named... its a LEDengine. Will a rebel swap right in? Or do i need to change the entire heat sink assembly and such?

What was the resistor in the setup?

Looks like 2.7 ohm 5% 3w. Sound right?

If you switch to a rebel, you will need to change the resistor. The heatsink assembly should be fine, assuming it's not a chrome plated 9/16" nut.

Hahahahah. Nah its a more legitimate heat sink. Thanks for the help. I think I will switch to a rebel. Now the only question is what color...
