Whats up everyone. I purchased a Hasbro FX Darth Vader lightsaber for my wife as a Christmas gift. She's actually the Star Wars geek but I als find these Sabers pretty cool. I was looking at purchasing her the Luke Skywalker saber but im a little confused on some thing.

    1. Why do I see some of the MR sabers only come with the Hilt (spelling) and there is no blade?
    2. Are there any MR sabers that come withe the blade and sound effects like the Hasbr FX saber I bought her?
    3. Can you buy blades seperat for the MR sabers that dont come with blade and do they make the sound effects like the Hasbro FX?

Thanks in advance for you guhs help.

    1. Because Master Replicas [MR] made both "static" lightsaber hilt collectible prop replicas with no internal electronics as well as the original MR "Force FX" lightsaber line which came with battery powered soundboards and lighted blades [before Hasbro bought MR's Force FX technology as well as the licensing rights to build them from Lucasfilm].

    2. Yes some of the same models of Force FX lightsabers were made by both companies and all Force FX sabers by either company have light and sound effects...iirc MR made FFX versions of the Darth Maul TPM, Anakin AOTC, Anakin and Obi-Wan ROTS, Mace Windu and Yoda ROTS, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker ANH, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker ESB, Luke Skywalker ROTJ and a unique 'Joe Jedi "construction kit" with interchangeable parts before Hasbro took over, all of which had light and sound.

    3. Shortly after MR developed the Force FX line some Force FX buyers learned how to DIY "convert" them replacing the impact-vulnerable small-LED strings inside the original MR Force FX lightsaber blades with a single high power LED in the hilt in order to make them more durable in mock dueling, with the added benefit that these conversions replaced the original component laden MR blade with a strong hollow aftermarket blade that could be easily replaced or even removed, a boon for SW costumers wishing to hang their sabers from their Jedi/Sith belts at conventions or while 'trooping'. Later Hasbro also made some of its Force FX lightsaber line available with removable blades...although their removable blades retained the vulnerable in-blade LED string technology. Therefore many saber fans continue to convert their MR and Hasbro FFX sabers using conversion kits such as those available at the TCSS store and spare blades for converted FFX sabers are also available in the store. Some VERY skilled "sabersmiths" with the proper machine tools also figured out how to "convert" some of those NON-FFX "static" MR saber hilts that weren't designed for electronics to add electronic light and sound FX and removable blades but those conversions can be much to very much more difficult to near-impossible depending on the model and is not a wise DIY undertaking for the modestly skilled or faint of heart.
