I was JUST thinking that as I was looking at those pics.

Slothfurnace....dude....dude....DUDE....where did you come from? Your skills are pretty much at Mastery level....and you are only two sabers into the hobby?

Oh well...wherever you came from just stick around...we think your work is top notch and can't wait to see more.

Those radiator fins are something else.

to be completely honest, that chassis is way too pretty to be put into a saber. it would be like using the original typed script of star wars to level out the shelf displaying you collection of m/nm in the box Jar-Jar memorabilia. Like putting a brand new Porsche motor in a Yugo. Fantastic work.

Slothfurnace, did you get your Aqua Aura crystal online? It looks great, very natural. I was searching my local "stone shop" (two floors of unusual minerals, crystals, and fossils), for something appropriate, but the Aqua Aura's they had looked too artificial to me. (I ended up buying a colorless, flawed, funky-looking little crystal that called out to me from a crowded shelf like Charlie Brown's sorry little Christmas tree.)

I just did some searching through Japanese online shops for Aqua Auras, but the ones I found were too big, too expensive, or, again, too artificial looking.
    There's always a bigger fish.

That level of detail cries out for a skit where the saber gets repaired on-stage.
It's not supposed to be cheap or easy. It's an ordeal.

But if you're not here to make a light saber the hard way, just follow this guide and stay out of the way.

You must come from a galaxy far. far away to be able to construct lightsabers like that!

    It's out-right astounding!

Wow, Caine, I do appreciate that. As to where I come from, I grew up on a ranch an hour southeast of Dallas.

I will be sticking around, I think I have found something that I can really push the envelope with and use a wide assortment of my skillset in this hobby.

Haha, thank you. I am considering ways to display it when it's all done, sort of a multi tiered stand, chassis, saber, blade, etc. all seperate.

I got mine on ebay, after an exhaustive search of the right size. There were several about this size on there, I'd do a search.

But if it's on stage you can't see the detail! You have to get close up!

I once did an art project that got into a gallery of chalk sculptures. They were so tiny and intricate. At the opening someone asked me why I worked so small. On the spot, I came up with this: That I worked small so that if you didn't take the time or effort to walk over and look close, you'd miss it. That you had to invest somethig in me for you to get something from me.
