616/joejedi problem

616 joe jedi board. I know there has been some great threads on this in the past but I'm having different problem. The pitch of the sound is too high even with the speaker in the hilt. I am also getting no pwrdwn sound. I'm going to try using diodes for the pwrdwn problem. What about the pitch? anyone else have this problem?
Here's my schematic. Using k2 green led with resister 4 AAA batt pack.

I don't know this for certain, but... certain 616s may be finicky with having >=6v.

Additionally, you may have a "bad" one. Even if it worked before when it was still "stock". Or (as above), it may have freaked when receiving ~6v.

They are made *extremely* cheaply... get used to it!

What about using 4 AAA Nickel Metal Hydride Rechargeables? This way your total voltage is 4.8 volts. Much closer to the 4.5 that the board normally runs on.

After Psab posted, it occurred to me that you could use a 5v regulator if you like--especially decent with a 6v solution, since you won't be shunting away much heat/power/voltage.

I think the part # is 7805A but I'm going from memory, so... it may be wrong.
