Thread: Updating the Graflex

    Default Updating the Graflex

Finally got back to working on this Graflex. With my skills at wiring getting better I finally put the momentary switch under the red button. I also cleaned up the crystal chamber and grooved out a small hole in the handle to expose the crystal. Unfortunately I didn't have the space to put the 5mm led under the crystal so it's mounted off to the side pointing up at it. It's not as bright as feeding it directly under but I'd have had to tear down the whole electronics setup to redo. I also modified the stock glass eye housing to be able to use it with the blade socket.

    Nice job!

I, too, like those brass grips.

I have to agree with Eastern, you have always had the Fu. Excellent work and when you are ready to learn the hide-the LED-so-that-it-shines-through-the-crystal-Fu lemme know.

I've built a few MHS saber and eventually sold them off. The Graflex is still my favorite. Even holding it completely unmodified as the flash gun it was intended to be still feels like it's a light saber. LDM, I actually have the setup to mount the LED right under the crystal(the crystal actually is mounted on top of one of those chromed LED holders); however, I have the driver board now partially blocking the hole to feed the accent LED into. Still, I'm pretty pleased with how I got it to work out.

Took a little time to round the bottom edges of the grips. Soft brass makes for easy work. More comfy and pleasing to the eye.
