it really is a matter of preference.

I like to use 26 and 28 gauge wire.

just as a second opinion..I completely agree with CC and use 26 for my wiring except the battery pack which i would use 28

hmm...strange. I would have thought the battery wire would be heavier then the rest seeing has it would have to carry the most juice.

Try some cram fu first on a REALLY tight build and then you'll quickly want to switch to 26-28 ga.

hehe..for sure! Making room is difficult when your saber isn't a simple 12 inch tube and even then it could be packed easily.

I should clarify I meant that I thought battery wire and maybe main LED would be 26 and the rest 28.

gotta admit...all my sabers i use 26 gauge myself...

One place I get wire from is old printer cables. Not the newer USB cables but the older ones. I just strip the outter sheath off and then you have several feet of 26 gauge wires of all kinds of colors. I am a pack rat, so I had several of those cables juat lying around. I am glad I finally found a good use for them.
