Thread: Jay-gon Jinn's Chrome Saber #20 (CS-20)

    Default Jay-gon Jinn's Chrome Saber #20 (CS-20)

    Just finished this weekend:

This was built using MHS parts, and a chrome sink drain tube from my local hardware store. I used one of the blue dot aniti-vandals on this one:

Since this was a milestone kind of saber, being the 20th of the series, I did something else to it I though would be kind of cool:

I borrowed this idea originally from LDM, but I'll call it Jewel Pommel, instead of Crystal Pommel! I did this on a couple of other sabers, but those were either stunts without sound, or were built using a chrome sink drain extension for the pommel, and had more room to work with. It's a piece of 3/4" poly carbonate blade tube (a very short piece) and a 3/4" blade tip. It does not interfere with the sound of the saber at all, even though it is directly in front of the speaker.

And of course, the Jewel lights up as well:

Sound is provided by an Ultrasound 2.5, the blade led is a blue Seoul P4, and the batteries are AAA NiMH. The saber has a recharge port/kill switch, and is probably one of my all time favorites, as far as how it looks.

This also has one other feature that i've been doing lately, and that is the sound holes in the ribbed extension. They are covered by the chrome sleeve, but you can still hear, and more importantly feel the sound coming from the grip area! A nice side effect of getting more sound from the saber!

From Wikipedia: "Internet Explorer slows down GIFs if the framerate is 20 frames per second or higher and Microsoft reports that Google Chrome and Safari also slow down some GIF animations."

Very nice looking saber. Good work with the "20th edition" special special features as well.

sweet....really clean. Excellent use of overlays and all the bells and whistles.
Must be 4 AAAs. What's the run time like on it?

Why do you assume it's got 4AAAs in it?

It's got a rechargeable battery pack in it, did you not see him pull the kill key out of the recharge port in the video?

With that "jewel pommel" set up, it would be hard to change batteries.
