If you do a google search on it there are a couple of good sites out there that break it down peice by peice. From what I gather it certainly is not an easy process if you want it to look real, but it can be done.

I am making a jedi/sith black and khaki colour suit, i used linen, and just modified the pattern for a martial arts uniform so the sleeves belled out a bit at the wrists, and made the inner robe sleeveless and attatches under the armpits with flat shoelace i sewed on.
the tabbards were strait and i sewed straps just to keep them from separating around the waist. then i put velro on them near the neck, and velcro near the collar of the outer top so they dont slip off your shoulders.
the obi was just a bit bigger than needed and i put velcro to attatch the ends. the utility belt i used a peice of thick rubber, its cheaper than leather, and i put two watch bands riveted on to strap it up. I have not finished it but I will rivet on some loops for another outer belt and make or buy some pouches and stuff.
for boots, i just went to an army disposals shop to get some, and if you want the high tops, just buy some upholstery vynil and make a velcro cuff for them. then you can put some straps on them or whatever you like.
i have not made an outer robe yet. i will post some pics once i have finished.

i also agree with the simplicity pattern. i have one myself, but i never got to use it[]. nobody in the household knows how to sew!! so i ended up getting one from ebay

I used the Simplicity pattern that they have now for a look-a-like of Jedi clothes. I then used Padawan's guide to make it exact! This thing looks great. Amber's Jedi Meditation Chamber is really good too. This is the site Padawan's guide uses for info. She has a lot of cool reference pics and info, and she's a Jedi Chick! That is always cool. Just go to Padawan's guide and look up the links, itll take you there.[]
