Thread: Double saber LED powering/wiring.

    Default Double saber LED powering/wiring.

With a double bladed saber [no soundboard yet] Is it possible to power the 2 LEDs off one set of batteries, one switch and one puck etc or will they need seperate circuits? [I searched and only found double circuits and I don't really have the room] I'm having problems working out the power i'd need /resistor size etc without running into heat problems and low illumination of blades.
    Thanks in advance.

Well, the reason yo probably saw low illumination of blades is because they were being powered off of the same batteries. It's not a good idea. It will drain the batteries really quick. It would be like running 2 cars off of the same gas tank.

I haven't wired it yet, I assumed i'd suffer low illumination. Just wanted to know if there was an option before I went and wired up 2 circuits. The lack of battery life isn't a concern as i'd have to give up something due to lack of space.

exactly how much space are you using??

A good sized double blade should be around 18"

a battery pack is around 3", A bladeholder is around 3", and a switch is 1" max...
So you've got (thinking on the big side) 15-16" of stuff....

Unless he's planning on making an Exar Kun style hilt, which was only just above average single blade length.

The size problem is due to the inside tube, it's 3/4 inch long.
The entire saber is 17" approx
