Talking The V2 Project by LDM

So I am doing 3 versions of the Luke ROTJ V2. Here is the odyssey, chronicled for all to see.

This is where I started (Just ignore the V3...that one comes later.)

Here are all three IN ROUGH TRIM :

Here are the final sabers from LDM's V2 Project. Each is a slightly different version of the Luke ROTJ V2 Lightsaber. The V2 in the foreground is MR-based, weathered and sports an MR 616 soundboard and Corbin V2 driver driving an Green Cree XR-e LED. The V2 in the middle is MHS-based, weathered and sports a Crystal Focus Saber Core v4.2 driving a Seoul P4 Green LED. Finally, the V2 in the back is Scratch-built and has an Ultrasound v2.2 driving a Seoul P4 Green LED.

See the individual sabers' posts for the particulars. :dft012:

    The Vid:

    The Glams:

Here are a few of the rough build pix of the group:

Now, on to the individual saber builds:

First up, the 11" MHS-based V2 with Buttered Toast.

    Particulars:

    CF V4.2
    "Crystal Pommel"
    "easy SD access"
    4.8V NiMh Battery solution
    Recharge/Kill
    "Reverse Sound (TCSS HO Speaker)"
Accent (Power on) LED in Clamp
2 MOM Switch setup (both in clamp)
    Seoul P4 Green
    (2) 5mm HO Accent LEDs
    Custom "D-ring"
    Super Secret Weathering Sauce
    LDM Cone knob (kill key)

    The Video:

    The internals (for ISG Purposes):

    And, finally...the Finished Toast:

Next up, an US 2.1 "Clean" V2...

It is a Clean Version of the V2. It has a saberforge grenade and "ring". It has a "broken" Park's emitter shroud that I scavenged. The rest is scratch (except the box and greeblies). The neck is 1.125" Aluminum and the neck "ring" is 1.5 OD.

    The particulars:

    Ultrasound 2.1
    Seoul P4 green
5mm HO Accent LEDs (RB, B, BG and G in the pommel)
    Kill/recharge
    7.4V Li-ion Solution
Simple LDM PVC Chassis w/snap-in recharge
    Custom Aluminum Optics/heatsink module

    The Video:

    The Build Pix:

    The Battery Pack build:

    The Glams:

    One to go...

Here is the Final Saber in the V2 Project. It is a weathered MR-based V2. Surprisingly, it has the most solder connections of any of the sabers in this project, but the nice roomy insides of the MR hilt were a welcomed sight, especially after working inside that tube that is the Scratch-built V2. DAMN, this sucker is LOUD too.

    Particulars:

    MR 616 (Jedi font)
    Corbin V2 Driver
    3.6V 18650 Li-ion Battery solution
    Recessed Recharge/kill (Jay-Gon style)
HO 5mm accent LEDs (White in the box, green in the pommel)
    HO (and huge) speaker
    Cree XR-e Green LED
    TCSS BH

You truly are a talented sabersmith LDM. I hope to be able to make sabers like yours someday

Those are beautiful in every way. I really like the seoul P4 green, It is almost a mint color.

Thanks fellas, I am frankly surprised that only 3 people even chose to comment on a CF V2 and a scratch US V2, since that particular saber is sooooo many people's unicorn.

Thanks bro, me too. I mean, in reality you could put a CF in a turd and it would be the "ultimate turd", but that MHS-based V2 is a great saber in and of itself! The CF just makes it Super cool.

    Gorgeous.
I can't help imagining what it would look like if the choke tapered into the bladeholder, perhaps too simple.
    your work is very inspiring.
