Talking 1.25" Sinktube MR sound install mini tutorial

This thread will give you the basics of doing an MR sound install in a pre-made sinktube saber. the pre-made saber in question has a basic TCSS electronics kit to start with.

Here is the saber as it came to me:

First step was to disassemble it (here are the basic parts):

Next, I took everything apart, changed the battery pack to a 4aaa and made my batt/speaker module. That was then soldered and heatshrinked to the MR Obi soundboard. (There is no clash sensor in this build) Finally, I added a QD to the wiring harness and 1.25" BH. (note the zip ties taking the stress from the solder joints)

Next, I heatshrinked the board itself (with PVC heatshrink). This is important to do for MR boards to prevent shorts!:

Next, I slid everything in...attached the switch with it's nut and attached the QD. Finally slid the BH in and secured it with it's buttonhead screws (note the foam that prevents the board from rattling around since there is not chassis in this saber):

Last thing to do is test it (again):

Here is the battery installation tutorial:

That's a nice looking saber you made there LDM. I love that grip section, what did you use. I think you could have placed the switch in a better place, but to each their own.
Good job as always I look forward to see more from you in this line of sabers.

LOL, the grip is a very special vinyl polymer adhesive compound otherwise known as electrical tape. I did not actually build this saber, I was upgrading it for a "friend" who built it with his little nephew. This is an "upgrade Tutorial after all.

Very informative; I'm new to the boards and was looking around to get an idea of how to modify my own lightsaber from the kit to MR soundboard.

However, I am wondering how one would go about installing the soundboard with the clash sensor as well; do you know the method for doing this, or do you know of any pre-existing tutorial for modifying the TCSS kits to use an MR soundboard and clash sensor?

There's plenty of topics here that show you how to install an MR board with a clash sensor, especially in the "A to Z Built Threads" section. I know, I posted most of them There is also info in the "Wiring Diagrams" section.

Ah, excellent. Those are very useful. Ironically, the only MR soundboard they seem not to have is the Mace Windu one, which I was going to use, but I think I should be able to figure it out with these.

    Thank you kindly, sir.

Good thing the sensor is already attached to the Mace board so you have to do exactly...nothing to get it to work~
