  1. #1

    Default MK3 Flange?

Im trying to build a saber modeled after luke skywalkers. The one thing im having difficulty with is the flange the is at the top of the hilt, the part the bade is attached to. I have found one site(http://www.parksabers.com/mk3flange_part.html)that sells this flange but i dont kno anything about it. Will the blade holder style 1 fit throught this flange?

No that will not fit, there are some new emitters on order that will be close to that style, they are a few weeks out yet.

I am doing something similar. I bought an emitter from Roman's Empire located at http://www.romansempireproductions.com/Parts.htm. He sells an emitter that will fit a 1" polycarbonate blade. It is $28 plus S&H...kind of pricy, but not bad. Doesn't phase me, the customer is paying for it.

The tricky part was having the LED style 1 emitter/blade holder machined in such a way to allow the other emitter to slide into it. It can be done, but it does require some machining on a lathe that has been properly set up.

...how will you know the light unless you have seen the dark? How will you know the good unless you have flirted with the evil?

The easiest thing to do would be to wait for the MHS emitter, but the fat neck will always be there.

Talk to Tim about making you a custom emitter or maybe machining a flange to fit the way you want. Unfortunately that is about the only option to have someone do the custom machining for you.

You mean other then getting a lathe and coming up with your own design?

The best advice I can give you is go to your local Lowes, Home Depot, or whatever and shop. Fit plumbing parts with electrical parts, play with mounts and fittings around storage and closets.

If you want something trully custom then e-mail Tim and get a quote.

You're tredding on thin ice here with that comment...

But you may want to look into going to the hardware store and picking up diffirent size washers and putting them together. Possibly polishing them down and such.

But you would be much better off with the MHS emitter. Less work, sturdier, you know it will work, no Jerry-rigging, all Tim's parts will fit (so you won't have to mess with getting the blade to fit and Electronics into it) won't need a Flame-Retardent vest, etc...
