Thread: Hullo! (and one tiny obligatory newbie question)

Default Hullo! (and one tiny obligatory newbie question)

Hi! I've been reading up on lightsaber building for the past 2-3 months or so and finally gathered up enough guts to actually try it after I got all the required stuff. There's just one thing that I couldn't find explicitly though, I searched this place and Fx-Sabers from top to bottom and couldn't find it.

How long is the Anakin hilt? I'm trying to build a look-a-like out of a sinktube and random metal parts (like the bunny ears) but I can't find out what the length of the hilt is anywhere.

Anyway, thanks in advance and I can't wait to start! (after I get all the stuff worked out)

    Hi almond

The dimensions of the FX hilts are a little off from the movie hilts. They had to change the design a little to accommodate the electronics. I don't have an Anakin in front of me so I'm not sure of the length.
But I do have a graflex Like they used in New Hope and it's 10 3/4 inch. long.
    Hope that helps.

Sitharchives.com should have all the dimensions you are looking for...

Hope you have a great time at these forums!

Thanks for the link, cardcollector! But it doesn't carry the information I'm looking for Indeed, none of the episode 3 sabers are in there. Am I to assume that it's the same as a regular 3 cell Graflex or is it different? o.o???

And thanks to annon too for the Graflex length! Though I'm not sure if it's correct or not, at least there's something for me to start with.

Being so great, the owner of these wonderful forums and attached shop has filmed how to build an MHS hilt, here's the link:

How would that work though, ani's saber going from eleven inches to ten and three quarters. I'd just go with what I said before ten and three quarters.
