Thread: Hey Vadeblade...

    Default Hey Vadeblade...

I just saw your newest saber, which I believed you've dubbed the Nautilus, and I simply HAD to comment. Dude, that is probably the single most ***y saber I've ever seen.

I, uh, didn't really have any questions about it, I just thought I'd tell you how awesome it is. Although I'm sure you already know that, right? []

Ooh, actually, I do have a small question. What are those little black screws you used called? They look like they can only be unscrewed with an allen wrench. Are they easily found at, say, Home Depot or Lowes?

Again, I bow before your awesome saber-crafting skills. []

Socket Head Cap Screw? Tim sells some in the store... I don't think they are that small though (not sure). The other flatter ones Tim also sells, and they are labeled as button head screws.

Most of the time that I've ever seen that type of black hardware, its always labeled as 'alloy'... As opposed to stainless... If that helps at all?

Thank you for the kind word.

Actually, Ryan at Random Sabers gave it that name. I just went with it. And for the record, I made 90% of the lightsaber, I just needed Random Sabers to make a few modifications.

I used three different types of screws. All use standard allen wrenches. the types are:

    1. Socket head caps - as Devilstar pointed out []
    2. Button Head caps
    3. Set screws.

I usually use #6-32 size screws. I buy in bulk from use-Enco.com, but you can purchase small quantities from any hardware store.

Right after I finished it I decided I did not want to keep it.
    It's on Ebay here - http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-LIGHTS...QQcmdZViewItem

I just can not keep a lightsaber for long. The JOY is in the MAKING [].

    Cheers.

It really is a work of art, and that little crystal thing is lovely. I take it it was moulded resin?

I love the emitter, too. Distinctive and characterful, very Sith.

    rohgan,
That crystal is a Real crystal. It is Quartz. For about 3 months I collected quartz crystals of every shape, size and quality solely for lightsaber installation. The bottom half of the crystal has been coated with clear epoxy to make sure it will not shatter if ever the lightsaber was used for dueling.
