Yeah, its an MHS hilt with the ribbed section so it can take the heat well. It's $160. Not a bad price at all. Runs on either 6AA or AAA since he says it runs on 9V.

Has anyone experimented with hooking up a 5watt to the MR board in the same
fashion as Tim's original wiring configuration?
The MR board can't handle the voltage you'd need to power the 5W. It would fry the board.[xx(] Never tried it but I believe that is why no one has moved to a 5W besides the heat issue.

That's what I thought.
Of course couldn't you just by pass the board and power the LED and board
and what ever else in there individually?[8]
But then you have multiple devices pulling from the same battery instead of
an all in one configuration. Right?[8]
Just thinking out loud I guess[]
I think the K2s will be a better bet to get more brightness out of the cleaner
all in one MR set-up... do you concur?
always
MERIDIAN
Yeah, it'd be possible to run it off of a larger battery pack if you put a voltage reducer (like what EL users are doing), but then it get's to the point you are really messing with the insides of the MR hilt and do lose the convinience of just running it with all standard MR stuff. Not to mention 5W'ers you'd need an additional heatsink to the holder...
So yes, K2's would be better, but 5W's are still the brightest.

Well I just ordered one of his sabers back on Friday night and I'm hoping it's a 5 watt luxeon lol the only thing is though I forgot to tell him what color so I have to do that tonight cause I want my new saber a.s.a.p and along with that I also paid for a conversion of my Darth Vader hilt [] I should probally just ask him in the mail if it's a 5 watt luxeon [xx(]
Matt
Only his "Ultra Saber S5"'s are 5W'ers. The conversions are just 3W because of all the reasons stated.

MetalHeadXi58, you can just email me, ultra at ultrasabers dot com if you have any questions about your order. Out of respect for TCSS, we're really not supposed to talk about other stores, including mine, on this forum.
Meridian, the biggest hang up on putting a 5 watt in an MR hilt, besides the obvious heat issues, is the 8 volt requirement of the Lux 5 combined with the 4.5 volt drain of the MR board. To get decent autonomy, you'd need to run a 12 volt system and there's not a whole lot of room for that many batteries in the newer MR hilts.

So this is only a 3 watt []?
