Use the flat black....I've used both, and the gloss black is usually scratched by the time the saber is completed....and it shows up very well....

The gloss black pc is absolutely gorgeous. I've done flat and gloss and prefer the gloss. It would look great on the saber you're looking to build. Consider gloss on the blade holder and flat on the body since you're sliding a sink tube over it.
First one, flat black.
I'm not into the shiny black. The flat colors make it look much more mechanical like a tool, as opposed to a showpiece which gets babied and polished every night.
I like the 3rd one in the first pic and the 1st one in the second pic. I like how the black flare of the emitter sets of the curve of the hilt overlay. I also like the silver rings on the emitter that match the hilt.
