I did read that about the Crystal Focus board. I'd rather go with a single switch if possible, so it looks like I'm another one waiting on the UltraSabers driver boards to re-stock.

p.s. Thanks again for the link to the clamp-switch solution. I will certainly post pix of what I come up with during the WIP.

Can you remove the graflex style clamp and add a switch on the side of the box? Similar to the Anakin FX but do it as a pushbutton instead.
    No... There is another...

That's basically the plan, except to also keep the clamp lever.

My design calls for an activation mechanism that is as close to the implied concept of Luke's ANH saber as possible. Given only the Graflex prop and some industrial light and um.. magic, the best assumption would be that the little lever on the little box on the side of his hilt probably was how he turned the sucker on and off. That and the fact that when I grip the saber with my right hand only, my thumb naturally falls on that little lever. That is also the motivation behind the 90° offset between the emitter shroud and the activation cowl (what I believe to be the signature style element of this hilt).

I very much love switches that don't look like switches.

That being said, I am in debt to Jay-Gon for forwarding me a link to a previously implemented solution. I will try to go this route (just have to find a tiny momentary switch).

The katana tsuka-ito is on the Rahm Kota saber. It was built by Don Close of Do-clo custom sabers. I did the wrapping myself. I only show it in the photo as a size comparison.

Funny, I always work hardest on the switch too. It's the piece I put off for the last build step... particularly if I'm integrating it into a clamp box.
