What happens if I get the wrong resistor?

The LED will either fry if it's too weak, or be dim if it's too strong.

Okay, I went to RadioShack today, and got an LED and a resistor.

The LED says:
5V, 30mA, 300mcd(Whatever those mean)

The Resistor that the RS dude got me says:
1/4 watt, 5% tolerance

Is that right? I only have the 1 LED.

And is this correct?:

The diagram will work, but there is not enough info for us to tell about the resistor. The rating seems fine, but you didn't give us a resisitance rating. It will be in ohms, looks like the omega sign (uppside down horseshoe).

Resistance rating? Uhhh...The resistor package says 100-Ohm Resistors.

Unless that means it a pack of 100 hundred then that's not what the calculator is giving me. It says 150ohms. Being dim is better than frying so try putting two together to make 200ohms.

Put the resistors in series (end to end) to get 200 ohms

Yep, do not parallel em (tieing them together) that would be bad.
