Default Mounting a 5mm Accent LED

I have seen a lot of beautiful sabers with 5mm Accent LEDs like these... http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2062549

So my question is, How do you mount/ secure them? I initially thought to use epoxy but didn't think that was such a great idea...

Another thing is- Has anyone ever had one hit so it shattered or broke? they look fragile as they are made of glass.
Got a Question? There's a thread for that...

LEDs like that are not made of glass, they are plastic, why do you think they are glass? Have you never used any in anything? Maybe not.

Most people use an LED holder to secure the LED. Radio Shack has LED holders in metal or plastic. The metal ones are nice, but the plastic ones are very close-sitting to the hilt and won't get in your way when you twirl/spin the saber. For either type, you must mount the LED into the holder from the bottom, while the holder is secured in the saber. It can be tricky sometimes.

LEDs lenses are just clear acrylic. It's just another plastic material. They're not fragile, unless you hit them with something hard enough to break them (acrylic tends to break much more easily than polycarbonate, but it's still really tough)

For recessed accent LEDs, such as under the hilt glowing upwards hot glue works great.

I realy don't know how you can run out of room on a 20+ inch hilt.

OK, I thought I would just Bump this thread instead of starting a new one.

I've got the basic circut wired up and was planning on running two accent LED's parallel on the battery pos. and neg. My question is; Do you just wire the LEd to the wire

I'm just makin' sure I do it correctly.

It seems rather difficult to connect the hard sturdy wires to the flexible ones and make a good connection that won't break.

I also am trying to figure out where on the Batt. wires I should connect them. Would wiring them in were the Batt. and sound board wires meet work???

Again, I don't want to mess this circut up. My past three sound baords have been fried so I am EXTREMELY hesitant to wire without knowing exactly what will happen.
