    Hey,

    I'm getting ready to build my first saber and I thought I'd run my parts list past you guys before I go for it.

    Do you see anything I need/don't need?

    1-1/2” x 12” Chrome Sink Tube - $3.87

    2 8/32” x 1/2” button head - $0.30 ea.

    Yup, that's all you'll need. If you don't have a drill/tap you might want to buy one or pay the extra to have it done.[]

    It might not be a bad idea to get a resistor so you have circuit protection when you don't have the blade in but that is optional.

    Do you have a battery pack? The 8 AA is my favorite for the 1.5 sink tube hilts.

    Like xwing said do you have a tap kit? There is a great set in the tools section of the store if ya don't.

    EXCELLENT choice on the end cap, the little pipe cover caps are nice but the end caps that Tim makes are far better and tyou get the added benifit of a little more butt weight which is always good for balance.

    I think my brother in law has a tap thing.

    As for batteries I was just going to use a 9V. Is that okay or should I get a battery pack, too?

    I'm trying to keep as little in the hilt as possible for a future addition (I want to take the sound box from my old Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber and put it in this one.)

    Nuttin wrong with using the 9 volt, just most folks have bumped to 12 volts with the AA packs to get a liitle more brightness out of their saber.

    It has a 9V connector so technically he doesn't need one. It will drive up the brightness, but it's not absolutly neccesary. Same with the resistor. Tim has said that he's never blowen one without it.

    You could say that's the tech in me. I played around with one too and it didn't fail at all but overbuild it and it is less like ly to fail[]

    I recently built a couple of EL sabers for a girl's kids.

    She got the 4hz inverter from Stryder.

    I just used the 9 volt.

    It was still alot brighter than the 2hz.

    I was pleased enough, that I didnt try the 12 volts.

    Made me think I need to upgrade my kids sabers to the 4hz.


    I added in a 2nd 9 volt battery, to exstend the usuage time.

    It is not a good idea to mix different types of batteries such as 9 volt and AA. Each has a different mah capcity which will give mixed results in battery life, and the lower voltage battery will try to draw current from the higher voltage battery which will cause shorten battery life and may cause a heat build up as the battery drains at a fast rate. Stick to the same type of battery for best performance and battery life, use one 9 volt battery, use two 9 volt batteries for 18 volts, 8 AA batteries for 12 volts or 8 AAA batteries for 12 volts. I have found that the 12 volt setups work the best.

    i cross wired my 2 9v to run as a 18v it chews batteies but dam it is bright
