Thread: 8 Khz Inverter

    Default 8 Khz Inverter

Has anyone ever tried a 8 Khz inverter? I was wondering what is the brightness gain, and what are the effects on the life of the wire. I have seen those in other applications - like auto or costumes, but never mentioned in saber discussions.

According to lytec the manufacturer of the wire the "sweet spot" to run the wire is at 4khz. I am not sure what it would do at 8khz but one thing for sure it would definately lower the lifespan.

Where can you get a 8hz or 10 hz inverter ?

I read somewhere that 4hz is the sweet spot.

But some have said the even more brightness can be achieved, but the life of the El wire goes down.

But if you think about it.

I saw it said 8hz, was 1,200 hours. Even thats a long time.

To me, I fine with it being at around 300 hours.

Yes unfortunately L.Sabers are hard to see in direct sunlight, but as an option I have a Solid PolyCarb rod I use for my Led Saber, I have also seen people use Colored Acrylic Rods for Daytime use as well.[]

In actuality, the Inverter sold by Strydur doesn't run at 4kHz. I ran it on an oscope and it actually runs at closer to 10kHz.

I was running it off a bench at roughly 12V, but no more than 12.5V.
