    Default Rechargeable batteries????

OK, I know I will probably get flamed for this but, here goes.

Is it possible to wire a battery pack to a recharge port and then put some rechargeable batteries into the pack????
is it also possible just have a recharge port with ONLY a LED and resistor. No driver board, no sound, etc?

Yes to the first, as for the second question, I don't see why not but let someone with more expertise handle that.

Yes to number 2 as well. Although, I have to say that while charging rechargeables in the saber, using a standard battery pack like I usually use in mine, I have found that the charge lasts longer if use a slower charge. The Tenergy NiMH "smart" charger that Tim usually stocks in the store has two setting on it...1.8A and .9A. I use the .9A setting for the 4 1.2v NiMH batteries in the holders. You get a lot of resistance from the springs in the pack, and I've found that the slower charge works best for those applications.

Agreed with Jay-Gonn... on all accounts. Yes to 1 & 2. And yup... "faster" quick-chargers aren't very good for most batteries.

Additionally, most ALL of my "sink tube sabers" run off a single Li-Ion 3.7v cell which has a recharge port:

...none of which have a circuit board.

Further--again agreeing with 1 and 2 being "yes"--if you have a battery pack (where the cells snap in and out via the springs or whatever)... you can have a charge port too. That's not a problem.

It only needs to be wired correctly... avoiding any wire crossing and/or short circuiting...

BTW, that's another reason I love Li-Ions: if you make a wiring mistake... the PCB simply will not allow anything dangerous to happen.

    My electronics n00b question is:
What is the proper way to wire a recharge port to the battery pack?
(Or, in which tutorial is this information located, since I did not find it.)
