allright, this place has kinda become like family to me, so i wanna learn more about you guys (and gals) that post here. so let's talk music, eh? who's your favorite bands? i know xwingband's into jazz. here's my two favorite polar-opposite bands:

Zeke (ugly, manly, hyperspace-speed motorcycle chainsaw rock)

The Go-Go's (as girly as it gets, wrote great hooks, and Jane Wiedlin is adorable)

so what do you other folks dig?

I like trance, house, breaks, and dnb... I guess the folks that don't know alot about it would just call it 'techno'.

    To name a few:

    Paul Oakenfold
    Paul Van Dyke
    John Digweed
    Bryan Transeneu (sp?)
    Sander Kleinenberg
    Pete Tong
    Doc Martin
    DJ Icey
    Diesleboy
    AK 1200
    Ronni Size
    Aphrodite

actually, i call techno "Heist Music." it's what you would want playing in the van on the way to a big-dollar robbery []

It'd be hard to narrow down my favorites in Jazz...

    Maynard Ferguson (because I'm a trumpeter [])
Herbie Han**** and the Headhunters (Funky [8D])
John Coltrane (Giant Steps is my favorites)
    Dizzy Gillespie
    Stan Kenton
Count Basie (basically all the classic swing bands)
Everyone has to listen to Miles Davis...
    etc...

My absolute favorite is ska music though. I'm afraid most older people will have no clue what that is but here some of my favorites:

    Reel Big Fish
    Five Iron Frenzy
    Save Ferris
    Catch22
    Mighty Might Bosstones

And just because I love an irish jig with some rock thrown in:

    Flogging Molly
    Dropkick Murphies

    xwing-

you're into RBF? awesome!!! i always thought they sounded like if you combined a rock band with a college basketball brass band. you should check out the Aquabats if you haven't already, too.

oh, and BTW, when i owned a recording studio a few years back, i produced a really cool ska band called The Madhatters. fun stuff.

and for the record, flogging molly is one of the greatest bands of all time.

Yes, RBF is my favorite. I regularly wear the maroon "lion crest" t-shirt. I have listened to the Aquabats. They're okay... I can't put my finger on it but something just doesn't jive with me. They're in the same boat as The Planet Smashers and few others.

I have heard of the Madhatters. I have a friend who's tastes are pretty limited... to ska, and he had over 60GB of ska.

I'd have to agree though... Flogging Molly rocks my world. In highschool my Senior Lit. teacher let us play music during essays. She normally played this weird junk on her boombox... I didn't like it. I said "This is junk" and pulled out speakers (yes, I carried speakers around for shared listening[]) and turned it full blast to Drunken Lullabies.[8D] Needless to say she yelled at me to "Turn that noise off!" LOL

cool, xwing. flogging molly absolutely rules, no doubt. their last album had some of the most ridiculously lush production i've ever heard.

the madhatters' guitarist had this weird quick: he could do power chord hammmer-ons so fast, it was almost a twitch. when we were mixing the record, we were like, "is he using a wah-wah pedal????" nope, twitchy hammer-ons.

60GB of ska??? holy crap. i wish i had that kinda time to download music.

my favorite music is classic rock, my favorite band being ac/dc. i hate led zeppelin though, weird for a guy who likes classic rock. the most modern band i like is the red hot chili peppers.

i am a nerd, if you don't like it, i will cut you with my lightsaber
