Default Need some help with my first saber

Hi im trieing to make my first saber so i made a 3D model so i could tell what i wanted it to look like but my saber model is fairly long for a single blade (18" not counting the blade) and im not sure how to deal with it considering I only found 12" sink tubeing on the site. can anyone help me with this, should i try and attach 2 seperate sink tubes or is there a place i can get a longer sink tube? Also what would I need to cut the top part of my tube so i have a curve in it like in my model below?

Why would you want to make such a long saber in the first place?

You would use a Dremel to cut and sand a cut like that in the end of a tube.

well its 14 inches + a 4 inch guard, its cuz I like switch between both a normal grip and a reverse grip, and its nice to actually beable to let it lie flat against my arm without worry of it cutting into me. It can help alot when blocking and can add alot of strength if you need it. I have an odd fighting style but it works for me.

Here's how I'd try to make that.
I'd use MHS parts under the sink tube as a base. Then you could use more than one tube if needed to get the full effect you're looking for.

    Pommel 6 (it's the roundest)

    Ribbed extension

    Then a standard hilt section.

Use whatever blade holder appeals to you as it would be visible under the shroud. Maybe the #3 or #13 would look cool.

Just using the MHS sections above come to 13.2" according to the Saber Builder.
You could request a longer piece to replace the standard MHS hilt. Maybe an 8".
Yes, I spell it sabre. I just like it that way.

You could also do this with a sink tube as the main body and the sink tube blade holder http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MH...ter--P162.aspx and an adapter for the pommel of your choice http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MH...ter--P162.aspx

I actually think this could be done with a 1.25 sink tube base, and 3 MHS sink tube adapters.. (maybe even 2), a 1.25 bladeholder & some 1.5 sinktube for overlays/sleeves..

actually you could use a regular bladholder if you wanted...and wouldnt need a 1.25 BH at all.. just a regular old #1 or #2 style would work..

if was trying to make it look as much as the image you posted as possible.. here is a suggestion/diagram on how to go about doing so:

it uses 2 MHS to sinktube adapters
    http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MH...ter--P162.aspx

a MHS pommel of your choice.. maybe this one:
    http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MP...le-6-P295.aspx

(not exactly what you are looking for, I suppose..but close)

and any blade holder of your choice.. not sure if your even going to be seeing it with such a long overlay/sleeve..
    but possible #2
    http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Sc...le-2-P236.aspx

I dont have any bladeholder added in on the picture..but it screws into the top MHS adapter..and inside the top sink tub sleeve..

Ignore my bladeholder advice. My brain was refusing to remember the difference between the two sizes of sinkholder

    Happy Birthday!!!

You may want to get a d-ring, or covertec assembly if you want to clip on your belt.
Are you going to add sound?? I would highly recomend it. A lightsaber is not complete without sound!!

also, are you planning on adding a overlay or something to the hilt??
Got a Question? There's a thread for that...
