People need to pay attention to that is paralleled though.

The emitters can be paired however you want, hence the 8 legs. I would always recommend series over parallel, though a compromise would be 2 and 2. That's 6-7V and 1.4A.

I'd be curious and try those 2x2 ones... do we have valid sources for stars with this configurability? DX isn't there for configuration on these, it seems.

Xwing, whats the difference betwen the parallel and series? If I'm just runing the led of a board does it matter, if it does which do you think is better series or parallel? yeah I know I sound like a noob whats it to you.

    You could look it up...

Think of current like a hose with water. Parallel would be a "Y" connection. You'd need to up the current to get the same out of both hoses.

Using the sama analogy, series is "daisy chaining" (+'s to -'s). The voltage is added that way. In the analogies it's like having the same rate flow but needing a higher pressure.

I always would recommend series. It makes sure the same amperage is going to each LED. Parallel there can be minute differences in the dies that cause one to consume more current than the other. It's not unsafe or anything, but series is preferred for that. Parallel is easier to get without loads of batteries for a high voltage though.

The Cree MC-E is brighter. The P4 is easier to wire, is cheaper, and has lower power requirements.

My P4 looks great. Someday I may use a Cree MC-E, but for now the P4 is good enough for me.

also the P4 has a VF of 3.5 as opposed to 12 something, which would fry any soundboard available I think...
